A feel-good farce at Community Players

Community Players will take audiences on a buttery fresh comedic ride with their upcoming production, Popcorn Falls.  This fast-paced comedy runs Oct. 15, 16, 22, 23 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 17, 24 at 2 p.m.

“Popcorn Falls” is a sleepy town whose only real claim to fame is the waterfall it’s named after.  When the falls dry up, the town is forced into bankruptcy and threatened to be turned into a sewage treatment facility.  Their last hope is large grant that can only be used if the town opens a theater and produces a play in a week.  Two actors play over 20 roles in this farcical feel-good show that proves once and for all that art can save the world.

“Last year when we were looking for smaller scale shows, we stumbled on this hilarious new comedy and I knew it was a perfect fit for us,” Jamie Ulmer, Community Players managing artistic director, said. “This is one of those mad-capped comedies where you have just a couple of performers frantically playing all the parts.”

Playing a variety of roles throughout the show are Tyler J. Rinne and Brandon Clark.  The production is directed by Jamie Ulmer.

Ticket prices for “Popcorn Falls” are $18 for adults and $12 for children and students, except for the Saturday, Oct. 16 performance when all tickets are only $10.  Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more.

The box office, located at 412 Ella St., Beatrice, is open weekdays from noon to 5 p.m. and two hours prior to performances.  Reservations can also be made by calling (402) 228-1801 or online at www.beatricecommunityplayers.com.
