Art and Drama Meet in “Jo (Not Just Mrs. Edward Hopper)”

Angels Theatre Company is proud to present Jo (Not Just Mrs. Edward Hopper), a new work by local playwright, Norman Simon. Jo tells the story of the painter Josephine Nivison. She was 41 when she married Edward Hopper. From then on, her life was profoundly changed. His life, too.

Jo is being performed at the Sheldon Museum of Art, which has five Edward Hopper paintings in its permanent collection. Directed by Judy Hart and performed by Pippa White, this one-woman show brings a complex woman to life and out of the shadows of her famous husband. While she was the model in some of his most famous works, she was a talented artist in her own right, and her own woman.

If you go: Performances are Friday and Saturday, March 29 and 30, at 7:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, March 30 and 31, at 2:00 pm. The Sheldon Art Museum is located at 12th and R Streets in Lincoln, with metered street parking and parking garages nearby. Tickets are available online and at the door one hour before performances.
