Lincoln Community Playhouse will hold auditions for a special event production of INHERIT THE WIND on June 12

Lincoln Community Playhouse will hold auditions for a staged reading of Inherit the Wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee on June 12 beginning at 7:00 p.m. There are 18 roles available for ages 16 and up. The roles of Henry Drummond and Matthew Harrison Brady will be played by Playhouse acting Legends,  David Landis and Scott Glen. Rehearsals are currently scheduled for June 14, 21, 28, July 5, 12, and 18. The play will be performed with scripts in hand on July 19.

The Playhouse reading commemorates the 100th anniversary of The Scopes “Monkey” Trial which took place in Dayton, Tennessee from July 10-21, 1925 and centered around teaching Dawrin’s Theory of Evolution in public schools. Nebraska’s own William Jennings Bryan was on the prosecution team facing off with Clarence Darrow for the defense. In the play, these legal titans are fictionalized as Matthew Harrison Brady and Henry Drummond.

Parker Reed will be directing.
