Meshuggah-Nuns, The TADA Theatre, Thursday February 12, 2026
I was fortunate enough to see the TADA Theatre production of Meshuggah-Nuns this week in Lincoln. TADA kicked off its 25th anniversary season with this delightful, entertaining musical. It is a part of the popular Nunsense series that patrons have enjoyed over the years at TADA and even though I have been lucky enough to see the previous productions, it is not necessary in order to enjoy this production.
I didn’t understand the name Meshuggah-Nuns until I saw the production. Meshuggah is Yiddish for “whimsical” and it is a perfect description for this playful interactive production. From the moment you walk into the theatre you will feel you are on a cruise ship. You will meet professional actor Howard Liszt (played by Alfred Salanitro) and The Little Sisters of Hoboken -Reverend Mother Superior (Judy Anderson), Sister Hubert (Judy Welch), Sister Robert Anne (Mariah Lieberman) and Sister Amnesia (Cris Rook), who because of unexpected circumstances are now charged with entertainment on the ship. As they navigate their differences you’ll laugh at their antics and want to move with the music along with learning a valuable lesson about kindness and acceptance.
Music Director and Choreographer, Cris Rook leads the cast in stunning five-part harmony as well as frolicking steps. Designer Jenna Williamson helps us all to set sail, enhanced by the technical support of Jax Barkhaus, Kevin Welch, Mariah Lieberman, and the lighting design of Robert D. Rook. The costumes by Mary Lonergan will surprise you. Director Robert D. Rook blends all aspects of this production into a joyous heartfelt well-timed comedy that is the perfect minivacation from today’s world.
If you go: Meshuggah-Nuns runs February 12 – March 1, 2026. Ticket Information at https://www.tadatheatre.info/. The TADA Theatre, 701 P Street Lincoln, NE 68508. (402) 438-TADA (8232)
