The Nebraska Repertory Theatre, Nebraska’s Actors’ Equity Association
professional regional theatre, is pleased to announce its third production of the 2019-2020 season, THE HOLIDAY CABARET.
Performances are at 7:30 pm Thursdays, December 12 & 19; Fridays, December 13 & 20; Saturdays, December 14 & 21; with 2:00 pm matinee performances Sunday, December 15 and Saturday, December 21. Performances are in the Temple Building, 12th & R streets.
Individual tickets are $39 regular and $19.50 for students/OLLI. The production is directed by Andy Park, Nebraska Rep’s artistic director, with musical direction by Jackie Allen. Andy’s other directorial work for The Rep include Abigail/1702 and Avenue Q (2017-18) and Mother Courage and Hair (2018-19). Park directed The Glass Menagerie in November will also direct February’s A Thousand Words.
Members of the ensemble are featured jazz vocalist Jackie Allen with Tom Harvill and Hans Sturm. Additional vocalists are Bryce Bassett, Olivia Cano, Sarah Koch, Ryan Savage, and Maddy Stark.
The production is designed by JD Madsen (scenic); Laurel Shoemaker (lighting); Jamie Bullins (costumes); and voice, text, and dialect coach is Ann Marie Pollard, all members of the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film faculty. Technical Director is Liam Romano and stage manager is Shannon Sullivan, both undergraduates at the Carson School.
JACKIE ALLEN
Jackie’s extraordinary talent has taken her on tours of Europe, Africa, South America, and Asia. Nationally she has toured both coasts and in-between, appearing in Los Angeles (Catalina’s), San Francisco (Yoshi’s), San Diego (Humphrey’s), and in New York at the Josef Papp Public Theater. Regionally she was featured with the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic in Chicago’s Millennium Park and Auditorium Theater for an Ella Fitzgerald celebration. She has performed international music festivals in Detroit, Chicago, The Hague, Stuttgart, Edinburgh, Bologna, Beijing, Hong Kong, Thessaloniki, and Sao Paulo. Locally, Jackie was the 2018 recipient of Lincoln’s Mayor’s Arts Award, receiving the Artistic Achievement Performing Award and was featured on A
Prairie Home Companion where she gave Garrison Keillor a “voice lesson”.

Born in Milwaukee, WI, Jackie grew up surrounded by music with her father playing Dixieland jazz tuba. She attended U.W. Madison studying voice and jazz. In Chicago she began her recording career for Blue Note Records and others, recording 12 critically acclaimed CDs, most notably: Santa Baby, The Men In My Life, Love Is Blue, Tangled, Starry Night with Orchestra, My Favorite Color (USA Today’s Top 10 List). Fingered Dawn is a collection of original songs by her bassist and husband, Hans Sturm. She will release a live concert DVD and CD set later in 2019 and last summer recorded a voice/bass duo album, Early Bird in Paris, to be released early next year.
Jackie has served on the Board of Governors and Jazz Nominating Committee for the Recording Academy, “Grammy Awards” and has recorded with numerous Grammy-winning artists and producers. She created and instructs the adult primer course, Torch Singer 101 and teaches Vocal Improvisation and Songwriting at Doane University in Crete. Jackie lives in Lincoln with her husband Hans Sturm and son, Wolfgang.
