I was pleased to be invited to The Lied Center’s special announcement this morning regarding the jewel of their upcoming 2022-2023 season, the national tour of Hamilton.
Executive Director Bill Stephan announced the news as the curtain behind him revealed a backdrop with the now-familiar logo of Alexander Hamilton refusing to throw away his shot. Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird playfully mimicked the pose in her congratulatory comments. Also speaking were UNL Chancellor Ronnie Green, and Lincoln Chamber of Commerce President Jason Ball who commended The Lied Center’s commitment to bringing the arts to the city and state and the positive economic impact that a show of this caliber brings to our community.
Included in the presentation was a prerecorded message from the current star of the Hamilton tour, Pierre Jean Gonzalez. Lied Center Deputy Director Matthew Boring closed the proceedings with information about how to acquire tickets for the Lied’s upcoming season, which you can read in the official press release below:

HAMILTON is the story of America then, told by America now. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway, HAMILTON has taken the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theatre—a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education. With book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, HAMILTON is based on Ron Chernow’s acclaimed biography. It has won Tony®, Grammy®, and Olivier Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and an unprecedented special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors.
HAMILTON will be at the Lied Center for 16 performances on August 2-13, 2023. More information is available at liedcenter.org.
